David Duane DeLoss, son of RF and Lavon (Ingvall) DeLoss, was born on January 1, 1940, in Estherville, Iowa. He grew up on his family’s farm between Terril and Milford, where he learned the value of hard work at a young age. Those lessons stayed with him throughout his life. As a boy, he spent his time hunting and fishing on the farm and helping wherever he was needed.

He attended school in Terril through ninth grade before graduating from Spencer High School in 1958. He later attended Estherville Junior College, where he played football.

David worked at a wide variety of jobs. He helped in his father’s R.F.D. Bakery and Market and his father’s construction business. He then helped his brothers Ty, Barry, and Vaughn in their construction businesses. David also covered a lot of miles while trucking around the country over the years. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed reading books about religion and watching old movies.

David is survived by his brothers Garry DeLoss, Barry (Jody) DeLoss, and Vaughn (Gayle) DeLoss, all of Spencer, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, Lanny, Doug, Dona, John, Kristin, Jayme, Robyn, Laura, Jacob, Adam, and Sam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.F. and Lavon DeLoss; brothers, Ty and Craig DeLoss; sister, Linda DeLoss Smock; and nephew, Todd.
