Joyce Welcome Trojahn, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa.
She was born on May 7, 1942 to Kerry and Rosella (Martin) Clark. She grew up with two brothers, Merle and Dale and two sisters, Sheryl and Candace. She attended Milford High School.
Joyce began her work life in a cafe in Milford and then at St. Luke Nursing Home in Spencer for thirteen years. She provided in-home daycare for 40 years and enjoyed every child that came into her home.
Joyce met the love of her life at that cafe in Milford, Allen Trojahn. Allen and Joyce were married on November 22, 1959 at Union Memorial Church in Milford, Iowa. Together they raised three boys: Greg, Mike and Steve. Family meant everything to Joyce. She prepared and served countless meals at all of the Holidays. Always way more food than what we could eat!
She loved to cook and bake. She entered baked goods in the Clay County Fair and her family and friends were the lucky recipients of the loaves of banana bread, cookies and other items that she didn't think were worthy of the competition.
Joyce spent many hours knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and embroidering quilts and afghans for gifts. She was a collector of Christmas village buildings and accessories, crystal deer, bells and spoons from travel destinations.
She is survived by her husband, Allen: her children, Greg, Mike, and Steve (Therese); step-granddaughter, Alisha; and step-great granddaughter, Ashley; her brother, Merle and sister, Candace; brother-in-law, Marvin (Lois) and sister-in-law, June Rose Bruns and special friend, Julie Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dale; sister, Sheryl Earle; daughter-in-law, Shim; mother and father-in-law, John and Ella Trojahn; in-laws and spouses, Velma & Gerald Mullins, Leota & Byron Aldrich, Evelyn & Ray Roberts, Dorothy & Elmer Meehlhause, Ruth Ann & Clyde Petty, Irel Bruns, and Orlin & Diane Trojahn.
Arrangements are under the care of Geelan Funeral Home.
