Kenneth “Kenny” Melvin Krug, son of George and Mildred (Waterman) Krug, was born October 24, 1956, in Algona, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in West Bend, Iowa. Following graduation, he served his country by entering into the United States Army in 1974 until his honorable discharge in 1977.
Kenny held a variety of jobs throughout his life, including his time with Emmetsburg Ready Mix, Jeff Berkland Farms, Firkins Truck Line, Campbell Concessions – where he enjoyed working at several different fairs, and Wickman’s Auto. He also was a member of the West Bend Methodist Church.
He truly enjoyed staying busy and being around people. Kenny loved attending races, and found joy in camping, fishing, and diamond art. He was well known for hopping in the car to drive around and visit with others, often “getting the gossip.” You could always find him with a mountain dew in his hand and his flip phone in his shirt pocket.
Kenny passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Spencer Hospital, at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandchild, Creighton Reitz; his sister, Gloria Krug in infancy; and his brother-in-law, Rick Sego.
He is survived by his children, Troy (Sarah) Krug of Emmetsburg, Chad (Donna) Krug of Emmetsburg, Jenny (Ryan Holmes) Fisher-Krug of Algona, and Jessica (Jarod Reitz) Fisher-Krug of Rolfe; his siblings, Walter Wilcoxon of Laurens, Jan (Chres) Westergaard of Rolfe, Dale (Cindy) Wilcoxon of Emmetsburg, Linda Sego of Mesa, Arizona, and David Krug of Enfield, Maine; as well as many other relatives and friends.
