Kyle Matthew Hoffman, son of Ronald and Marjorie (Kempf) Hoffman, was born on July 25, 1981, in Emmetsburg. He grew up in Emmetsburg and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 2000. After graduation, he earned an associate’s degree in Farm Management from Iowa Lakes Community College.
On August 13, 2005, Kyle was united in marriage to Deidre Hagedorn at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with two daughters.
Kyle found great joy in the outdoors. He loved camping, boating, and taking every opportunity to be outside. His connection to the land extended far beyond recreation—he was a dedicated farmer at heart. Farming was not just a job to him; it was a way of life that he embraced with pride and passion.
Riding side-by-sides, going to the races, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes were some of his favorite activities. He was well known for his grilling skills—especially his ribs. These gatherings, filled with laughter, good food, and the people he loved most, were moments he truly treasured.
Kyle had a love for life and a natural talent for working with his hands. He was always building something—whether a project in the garage, a repair that needed doing, or simply tinkering with ideas that sparked his creativity. He had a special appreciation for classic cars, and even more so for muscle cars.
More than anything, Kyle’s heart belonged to his two daughters and his family. His greatest happiness came from the time he spent with them, and he was proud of the young women his daughters are becoming.
Kyle passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 44. He was an organ donor, giving the gift of life and hope to others in need. Kyle was preceded in death by his wife, Deidre Hoffman; beloved brother, Mike Hoffman; grandparents, Louis and Joanna Hoffman and Frank and Anna Kempf; father-in-law, Chuck Hagedorn; brother-in-law, John Miller; as well as special friends, Luke and Lacey Rouse.
He is survived by his two daughters, Amya and Mylee Hoffman; parents, Ron and Marge of Emmetsburg, Iowa; significant other, Nicole Neiderhiser, and her three daughters, Summer Fliss, Jacqueline Neiderhiser, and Makayla Neiderhiser of Spencer, Iowa; siblings Laurie (Brent) Miller of Bremerton, Washington, Scott (Danelle) Hoffman of Logan, Iowa, Steve (Martha) Hoffman of West Bend, Iowa, Gerry (Molly) Hoffman of Charles City, Iowa, Brian (Melanie) Hoffman of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Christie (Tom) Smolik of Emmetsburg, Iowa; the Hagedorn family; as well as several nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
