Linda Sharon Riecke Conlon, 85, of Spencer, Iowa, passed away on August 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of a family who cherished her deeply.

Linda was born on March 20, 1941, to Ray and Helen Riecke. She grew up in Ruthven, Iowa, where she began a life filled with family, friendship, creativity, generosity, and love. Linda graduated from Ruthven Community School in 1959.

Linda was first married to Duane Rasmussen, and together they welcomed two sons, Brian Rasmussen and Brad Rasmussen. Later in life, she married Jim Conlon, with whom she shared many years until his passing in December 2020.

Family was the center of Linda's world. She was the proud mother of Brian (Mina) Rasmussen and Brad (Tori) Rasmussen. She was also a loving grandmother to Emily (Jesse) Zahrt, Jordon (Breanna) Rasmussen, Max (Felicia) Rasmussen, and Tashina Rasmussen. Her greatest joys continued to grow with the arrival of her beloved great-grandchildren: Angelo Rasmussen, Olivia Zahrt, Rosalie Rasmussen, Truman Rasmussen, Camdyn Zahrt, Madeline Zahrt, and Zayden Rasmussen.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Conlon; her parents, Ray and Helen Riecke; and her brother Edgar Riecke. Left to cherish her memory are her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, Linda sister Sandra Webster, her many loved nieces, nephew, and many family and friends.

Linda built a career with the ASCS Office, but her talents and creativity extended far beyond her work. She possessed an extraordinary gift for sewing and was known for her beautiful alterations, including wedding gowns and many other special garments. She was also an accomplished knitter and a talented crafter. Her family will forever treasure the handmade items she created with so much care and love.

Linda especially enjoyed sharing her talents with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, patiently teaching them crafts and passing along the creativity that came so naturally to her. Through every stitch, every project, and every handmade gift, she left pieces of her heart with the people she loved.

Linda was known for her happy spirit and her ability to make friends wherever she went. She truly was everyone's best friend. She was generous, loving, and always there for her family. At the same time, Linda was never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought—and those who knew and loved her wouldn't have wanted her any other way. Her honesty, strength, warmth, and sense of humor were all part of what made her so special.

A faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, Linda lived a life centered around love, family, friendship, and giving of herself to others.

To her family, Linda was so much more than a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the pillar of the family—a source of strength, wisdom, laughter, creativity, and unconditional love. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the lessons she taught, the memories she created, the beautiful things she made, and the love she gave so freely will live on in all those who were blessed to know her.

Linda was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, her many friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Her hands may now be at rest, but the love they created and the lives they touched will remain forever.
