Margaret Mae Olson, lovingly known as "Mugs," passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on November 26, 1934, in the heart of Palo Alto County, Iowa, Mugs was the cherished daughter of Howard and Florence Mason. She spent her formative years in Iowa, where she cultivated a love for basketball, graduating from Ruthven Consolidated School with accolades in the sport of Basketball.

In 1955, Mugs married her high school sweetheart, Stan Olson, and together they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage until Stan's passing in 2011. Their journey was filled with love, laughter, and enduring companionship, a testament to the strength of their union.

Mugs was a vibrant spirit with a heart full of love and compassion. She was renowned for her spunky nature, infectious warmth, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her flair for fashion and her talent for pie-making added to her distinctive charm. Mugs had a deep-rooted passion for gardening, particularly for nurturing her beloved flowers, and was an avid sports fan, especially of basketball and the University of Arizona women's softball team.

A devoted member of the Ruthven United Methodist Church, Mugs dedicated 25 years to teaching 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School, profoundly impacting the lives of many young children. She was a beacon of faith and service, embodying the spirit of community and fellowship.

Mugs is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence, her dear husband Stan, son Kent, sister Barbara, brother Elwyn, and grandson Reza. Her legacy continues through her daughter Kay Arbuckle and husband Danny, daughter-in-law Rhonda Olson, three grandchildren, Jon (Jen), Jillian and Ali. Two great-grandchildren, Camryn and Chloe, alongside numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Catalina Hospice and Academy Villas Assisted Living Facility for their exceptional kindness and care. Special thanks are also reserved for Michael Santoro, who became like a son to Mugs, offering support and love in countless ways.

Mugs' life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering strength. Her legacy of kindness, warmth, and spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends in both Iowa and Arizona.
