Norval James “Bugzy” Stovall Jr., son of Norval Sr. and Mary Frances (Price) Stovall, was born on March 1, 1950, in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was proud to be part of a military family and spent part of his childhood in Germany while his father was stationed there, where he learned to speak German. At a young age, he experienced history firsthand, marching in the Million Man March in 1963.
Norval had a love for the outdoors and rarely stayed in one place for long. He enjoyed roller skating, camping, and spending time in nature. He had an extensive N scale model train collection. Known for his servant’s heart, Norval was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return.
The early 1970’s brought him to Denver, Colorado where he met Marge, Paul, and Bruce. That friendship allowed him the opportunity to become Victoria’s Godfather, raising her as his own. He lived his final years in Ruthven where he found great joy in “being a grandfather” to Victoria’s grandchildren, attending baseball games, the fair, and dances. These were all moments he cherished.
Faith was a cornerstone of his life, shaping how he lived, treated others, and viewed the world. It was evident not just in what he believed, but in the kindness and quiet example he showed each day. He was actively involved in the Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinders, where he found purpose, fellowship, and an opportunity to live out his faith.
Norval’s mother always said that March of 1950 came in like a lion with his birth. She would have comfort with March of 2026 going out like a lamb when Norval passed away peacefully. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances Stovall Tull and one brother.
He is survived by his father, Norval Stovall Sr.; stepfather, Rufus Tull; five siblings, Yvonne, Uita, Irvin, Darryl, and Tina; his dear family friends, Paul (Marge) Anheier and Bruce (Maxine) Lasko; goddaughter, Victoria (Doug) Deuel; as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Ruthven Care Center and Gentiva Hospice, especially Emilee, for the compassionate care they provided.
