Ryan Timothy Cundiff lived his life to the fullest - with laughter that filled every room, a heart that always made space for others, and a love for his family that guided everything he did.
Born on September 18, 1990, in Torrance, California, to Joann (Wood) Huegerich, Ryan grew up in Laurens, Iowa, where he made countless memories spending time with his friends and around the Laurens Locker. He graduated from Laurens-Marathon High School in 2010, where he discovered his love for golf and proudly played on the varsity golf team as well as participated in baseball and track in his younger years. He continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Ryan met his lifelong partner and best friend, Breanna (Chase), when they were just teenagers. From that young love grew a bond that only strengthened with time. They were married on August 23, 2013, in Storm Lake, Iowa, and built a beautiful life together filled with laughter, teamwork, and joy. Together they raised four incredible boys - Nicholas, Noah, Chase, and Carter - who were truly the light of Ryan's life. He loved being their dad more than anything in the world. Whether he was coaching baseball or helping with other sports, he was always there - full of pride and support.
Ryan worked as an OTP-Pro for McDonald's, traveling across the Midwest to keep things running smoothly. He took great pride in his work, and those who worked with him knew him as dedicated, dependable, and always good for a laugh. Ryan was a member at Foundation Church in Spencer, Iowa, and was baptized there on June 18, 2023.
He was a man of many passions. Ryan was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, a loyal Iowa State Cyclone supporter, and a big Marvel enthusiast. He loved his DeWalt tools, singing to 90s country music, all things Christmas, and making his homemade Cundiff Family Candles. He was also known for his legendary burgers and steaks - grilling was his art form. And anyone who spent time with Ryan knew one of his strongest opinions: iPhones absolutely suck.
Ryan had an unforgettable sense of humor and a heart as big as they come. His dad jokes could brighten anyone's day, and his laughter was the kind that pulled others in. He was the kind of husband who adored his wife, the brother who showed up when needed, and the friend who made everyone feel welcome.
Ryan is lovingly celebrated by his wife Breanna and their sons Nicholas, Noah, Chase, and Carter; his mother Joann; siblings Jack (Mandy), Jenny (Ryan), Jessica (Josh), and Ryan (Liz); aunt Robbin and uncle Ron; in-laws Steven (Lisa) Chase, Stacie (Bob) Lane, Preston Chase, Mattie (Lane) Fredrick, Peyton (Bria) Heistand, and Holly (Danny) Derion (Kenzie); honorary sister Casey Johnson; and friend James Twombley. He is also loved by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews who adored their Uncle Ryan, and by countless friends whose lives were made brighter because of him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Donna Wood, his uncle Ron, and his brother Craig.
Ryan's life was one defined by love, laughter, and purpose. He lived fully, gave freely, and left a lasting mark on everyone he met. His humor, kindness, and heart will continue to live on through his family and through every story told and smile shared in his memory.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Spencer Hospital and all first responders for their care, compassion, and support.
