Troy E. Olson of Ruthven passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Spencer Hospital, at the age of 61. He will be having a celebration of life visitation.

Troy Ellsworth Olson, son of Garry and Janice (Kathman) Olson, was born on November 2, 1964, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He attended Ayrshire High School through his junior year. Prior to his senior year, the school consolidated with Ruthven, and Troy graduated from Ruthven-Ayrshire High School. During his high school years, he excelled in track as a talented distance runner.

On July 22, 2026, Troy was united in marriage to Bridgette Fitzpatrick in Spencer, Iowa. Although they were only married a few days, they've been together for years and made countless memories together.

Troy dedicated 43 years of his career to Tecton Industries, where he became known as a dependable and hardworking employee. Throughout the years he held many different positions but primarily worked as a lead machinist.

Outside of work, Troy found his greatest joy in spending time outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and rarely passed up an opportunity to enjoy nature. He also had a special place in his heart for dogs, was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Vikings, and enjoyed simple pleasures like mint chocolate chip ice cream, HuHot, and Cold Stone.

Troy will be remembered for his quick wit, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. Family was everything to him, and he was the kind of person who gave his whole heart to those he loved. He never judged others, always looked for the good in people, and was truly an "all-in" type of guy. His compassion, loyalty, and ability to make others feel valued will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Troy passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Spencer Hospital, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his father, Garry Olson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bridgette Olson; his children, Trey (Marie Jensen) Olson of Emmetsburg, Tyle Olson of Ayrshire, and Tegan (Jordan) Williams of Arlington, South Dakota; his mother, Janice (Skip) Wallace of Emmetsburg; his sister, Jill (Doug) Williamson of Ruthven; his nieces, Keely (Travis) Ring, Rylee Williamson, and Taylor Williamson; and his nephew, Carter (Madisen) Williamson; his stepchildren, Robert (Brandi) Broadhead of Ayrshire, Catherine Hall of Spencer, Casey (Tyler) Climer of Spencer, Nathan Broadhead of Sioux City, and Christopher Fitzpatrick of Spencer; his grandchildren, Kinley, Tripp, Skyler, Ty, Addison, Everlee, Mylee, Cooper, Alexandra, Brooklyn, Braxton, Emersyn, Olyvia, Scarlett, Mila, and Julian.
