Rev. Eric Patten
Ty Charles Alan Jackson, son of Adolph Jackson and Dixie (Smith) Jackson, was born on October 26, 1993, in Spencer, Iowa.
Growing up in Spencer, he attended Spencer High School, where he was known for his athleticism and competitive drive. During his high school years, he participated in football, wrestling, and track, where he found a lot of success.
A natural people person, Ty enjoyed going out and spending time with friends and family. He had a way of making people laugh and carried a huge heart. He often looked out for others and took pride in being a protector for those close to him. When it mattered most, he showed up. Friends often joked that he might be late to the party, but when he arrived, he always made an entrance.
Much of his working life was spent in the restaurant and service industry. A talented cook, he most recently worked at The Prime Rib in Spencer. Over the years he also worked at The Sports Page, The Okoboji Store, and Mill Creek. In addition, he served as a supervisor at Intercept in Spirit Lake, a forklift operator at Southshore, and worked at UPS stocking trucks.
Ty passed away on March 9, 2026 in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 32. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers Alan Smith, Charles Jackson Sr., and Rick Sutherland; grandmother Abbie Grace Miller; and honorary brother Davonte Oshay Alfaro.
He is survived by his parents, Adolph and Dixie (Smith) Jackson of Spencer; siblings Reggie (Vanessa) Holmes of Rapid City, South Dakota, Cassie (McClain) Smith of Milford, Iowa, Tasha Jackson of Spencer, Iowa, and Julia Holmes of Keene, Texas; honorary brothers, Terrell Alfaro, Temi Otaniyi, and Daniel Preston; nieces and nephews, Autumn and Keyshawn; ZayLee and Zenovia; Alexis, Austin, and Lincoln; and great-niece Amarah. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Janet Smith and Dee Sutherland, both of Spencer, Iowa, along with many other relatives, friends, and his constant dog companion, Kova Grace Jackson.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, and the way he cared deeply for the people around him. His laughter, presence, and big heart will be greatly missed by many.
